Mortgage Funds

Generally thought of as a low- to mid-risk investment, mortgage funds invest capital in first and second mortgages and mortgage-backed securities, as well as real estate-based bonds.

In Canada, these funds primarily invest in residential property, but also involve themselves in commercial lending on occasion. They are often offered by banks and other financial institutions that provide mortgage capital to private homebuyers.
