  • Recreational Real Estate Investing

Unlike residential and commercial real estate, recreational properties aren't generally seen as high-profit investment opportunities.

Although it is true that limited ownership rights and lack of control can make it difficult to profit from timeshare condominiums and campground memberships, etc., there have been some cases of savvy investors turning a short-term profit by buying these interests at a discount, then reselling them during a tourism or real estate boom.

That being said, the high strata fees charged by many recreational schemes makes this a risky and potentially very costly form of investing, which is generally reserved for those with experience in the vacation real estate industry.

Perhaps the surest way to profit from recreational property is to purchase a private recreational lot or cottage an an area where the tourism industry is growing, then sit on it, possibly renting it out in the meantime.
